XNCA 1000 - Kansas Assisted Living Facility Operator Training Course
This course is designed to provide operators of assisted living facilities, residential health care facilities, home plus and adult day care facilities with information on the principles of assisted living. The aging process and its effect on activities, treatment and management of the elderly will be presented. Participants who attend all sessions and successfully complete a comprehensive examination will meet the requirements to be a long term care facility "Operator" for those mentioned above as established by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. This course is also recommended for current Operators as a beneficial update on the latest information in assisted living and residential health care. Enrollees must have an associate degree in hospitality, gerontology or health and human services or other degrees approved by the secretary of the Kansas Department of Aging and Disabilities Services or have a bachelor's degree. KS ACHAs will earn 30 (A) hours and 15 (RC) hours. RNs, LPNs and social workers will earn 45 contact hours. This course does not provide a business plan for opening an assisted living, residential health care or home plus.

1. Express a philosophy of person-centered, long-term care based on individual resident needs, preferences and choices. 2. Express knowledge of the aging process. 3. Demonstrate knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations. 4. Discuss resident rights. 5. Discuss issues involved in the management of internal support staff, budgeting, supplies, and outside resources.
