This course helps students make decisions about their college majors, careers and other life goals. It emphasizes career research as a tool for making current career decisions and meeting changes in the future workplace. Students learn a systematic approach for making career and life decisions based on their personalities, interest, skills and values.

This 21-hour CNA refresher course provides classroom and laboratory experience to update the inactive CNA. BIOL 144 - Human Anatomy and Physiology

This course provides basic knowledge on human structures and their function. Students will study the relationship of structures to function in the organ systems of the human body. Emphasis will be on the identification of the anatomical features and their functions. This course is integrated lecture and laboratory. 7 hrs. integrated lecture/lab/wk. Composition I focuses on writing nonfiction prose suitable in its expression and content to both its occasion and its audience. Students will have an opportunity to improve in all phases of the writing process: discovering ideas, gathering information, planning and organizing, drafting, revising and editing. Each essay written in the course should clearly communicate a central idea or thesis, contain sufficient detail to be lively and convincing, reflect the voice of the writer and use carefully edited standard written English. 3 hrs. lecture/wk. This course supplements the fall clinical experiences. Concepts, techniques and procedures learned in the summer semester are reinforced. RC 271 - Clinical Practice I

This course is the clinical application of respiratory care therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Students will have the opportunity to work with patients under close supervision to further develop their skill and understanding of basic respiratory care procedures for adults and children. The course objectives progress throughout the semester to involve the student initially in basic care of the less critically ill patient. As their comfort level and exposures progress, students are allowed to work with the more critically ill patients. RC 231 - Clinical Topics and Procedures II

This course supplements the spring clinical experiences. Concepts, techniques and procedures learned in the fall semester are reinforced. The student will refine understandings of and skills in the acute care, basic emergency care and critical care settings. Emphasis will be on ventilator management of patients with specific lung insults, neurological compromise and cardiac problems. Advanced mechanical ventilation concepts and techniques will be addressed as they relate to physiologic effects, management and troubleshooting. Home care, pulmonary rehabilitation, physician-assisted procedures, cardiopulmonary stress testing, patient case management and department management will be addressed. 3 hrs. lecture, 3 hrs. lab/wk. Spring.

This fundamental speech course emphasizes creation of ideas, research techniques, outlining, audience analysis, organization and delivery techniques. Clinic Courses (CLI) provide practical application and are offered on or off campus. Instructors supervise/direct student in a simulated or on-site setting.
Face-to-Face Courses (F2F) take place in a classroom. Based on JCCC's Statement of General Education. Students in all classes, including face-to-face classes, are expected to use technology appropriate to the course content and as needed to access web-based course materials. Face-to-face classes typically require access to computer equipment (either at home or in college labs provided for student use) and computing skills utilizing standard office, business and web browsing applications.
Hybrid Courses (HYB) combine face-to-face classroom instruction and the convenience of online web-based learning, resulting in a reduction of the amount of time spent in the face-to-face classroom and a significant increase of time spent studying online materials. Students registered in hybrid courses must attend class meetings as listed in the JCCC Schedule of Classes.
Internships (INT) provide experience to students for on-the-job training with cooperating businesses, agencies, and organizations. The number of hours for each internship varies.
Lab Courses (LAB) are face-to-face classes where students perform tasks as directed by faculty. Faculty members monitor the activity and provide individual and/or group instruction/assistance
Media Courses (MED) deliver all or a portion of instruction through either cable broadcast or pre-recorded video lessons. The videos are available in DVD format from the Billington Library.
Online Courses (ONLNE) use the Internet and a Learning Management System (ANGEL) to deliver course materials and to facilitate student-instructor, student-content, and student to student interaction. To participate in online courses, the student should have a good understanding of computer hardware and software applications and the Internet.
Continuing Education Online Courses (CEONL) and materials are delivered via the Internet. To participate in online courses, the student should have a good understanding of computer applications and Internet navigation. Private (PLV) lessons for credit are available from beginning to advanced in voice, piano, guitar, brass, woodwind and percussion. Lessons are scheduled by arrangement with private music instructors.
Self-Paced Courses (SEL) and Self-Paced Online (SPO) are offered on a schedule of study that allows students to enroll in the course during the semester. Course interaction is based upon a contract between student - instructor and in some cases can take up to one calendar year to complete. Some courses may use online delivery to facilitate the learning experience.
